The 4x5 Focusing Cloth Kit is a minor, one evening, sewing project
that yields a light tight focusing cloth comparable to more expensive
focusing cloths. It is black on the inside (to absorb light), white
on the outside (to reflect light away). It has velcro tabs to hold it
on the camera and to hold it gathered up under your chin. That way you
have both hands free to work the camera's movements! Some cloths have
weights on the corners...this just means that light is allowed to come
flooding up from below. It is better to gather the cloth up under your
chin to keep stray sunlight out, allowing you to see the image on the
ground glass better!
