A blank lensboard is not pre-drilled. Once you have the lens you
want to mount, simply measure the diameter of the threaded portion of
the lens and drill a hole large enough for the lens to fit through.
Then screw the retaining ring on from the other side to clamp the lens
in place on the lensboard.
Many people feel that, because a lens is involved, this is a very
technical, optical bench sort of excersize. It isn't! It's as simple
as drilling a hole just slightly bigger than the threaded portion of the
lens/shutter. The lens does not thread into the lensboard, so
there is very little precision required. And, since view cameras move
every which way, you don't even have to mount the lens in the
exact center of the lensboard. You could actuall mount it in the
lower left corner and still be okay (we mount ours a little closer to
the center by drawing lines from each corner and drilling at the x).
